The KFC story begins on September 9, 1890, the day our beloved Harland was born in Henryville, Indiana.
Ambition and creativity accompanied Colonel Sanders from an early age, when he had to learn how to take care of himself. The loss of his father at the age of 6 made him responsible for taking care of his siblings while his mother was away working.
His adventurous spirit led him to leave his family home at the age of 12 and start working on a farm in Greenwood. Over time, he was a soldier in Cuba (for 6 months), a firefighter, a streetcar conductor, studied law through correspondence courses, and applied his knowledge while working in insurance sales.
Starting from Tuesday, August 4, 2026, KFC and KFC Drive will be open in a new location, next to Hotel International.
